Fellowship Stat Distribution Types: Understanding Item Stat Patterns
Introduction to Stat Distribution
In Fellowship, items can have their secondary stats distributed in various ways. Understanding these distribution patterns helps you make informed decisions about which items to use for your build. Each distribution type has advantages and disadvantages depending on your stat priorities.
Stat Distribution Ratios
In Fellowship, items distribute their secondary stats between two stats using fixed ratios. Understanding these ratios is crucial for optimizing your gear loadout. All items use one of three possible distribution ratios:
1. 85/15 Distribution (Heavy Focus)
Items with an 85/15 distribution allocate 85% of their stat budget to one secondary stat and 15% to another. This is the most focused distribution type, ideal for maximizing a single stat.
Best for: Maximizing a primary stat, reaching specific stat breakpoints, when one stat is significantly more valuable than others
2. 70/30 Distribution (Moderate Focus)
Items with a 70/30 distribution split their stats with 70% going to one stat and 30% to another. This provides a good balance between focus and versatility.
Best for: Primary stat focus while maintaining a useful amount of a secondary stat, balanced builds where both stats are valuable
3. 55/45 Distribution (Balanced Split)
Items with a 55/45 distribution are the most balanced, with 55% of stats in one stat and 45% in another. This is ideal when both stats are equally important to your build.
Best for: Balanced builds, when both stats are equally valuable, flexible stat allocation strategies
Understanding Stat Budgets
The total stat budget varies by item slot (see our stat budgets guide). Higher-budget slots like Weapons (2.38x) will have more total stats, but they still follow these same distribution ratios. For example, a Weapon with 85/15 distribution will have more total stats than a Back item with the same 85/15 distribution, but both will maintain the same ratio.
Factors Affecting Distribution
Item Slot
Different slots have different stat budgets (see our stat budgets guide). Higher-budget slots can support more complex distributions, while lower-budget slots often focus on fewer stats.
Item Rarity
Higher-rarity items (like Legendaries) may have more favorable stat distributions or unique stat combinations that aren't available on lower-rarity items.
Set Items
Items that are part of a set may have distributions optimized for that set's bonus. When planning for set bonuses, consider how the stat distribution complements the set's effects.
Optimization Strategies
For 85/15 Distribution
- Use when you need to maximize a single stat or reach a specific breakpoint
- Excellent for primary stat stacking when one stat is significantly more valuable
- Combine with items of other ratios to fine-tune your stat totals
- Be aware of diminishing returns - don't overstack one stat beyond optimal thresholds
For 70/30 Distribution
- Ideal when you have a primary stat but also need meaningful amounts of a secondary stat
- Provides good balance between focus and versatility
- Common in optimized builds where both stats contribute meaningfully
- Works well when your stat priorities are clear but not extreme
For 55/45 Distribution
- Best when both stats are equally valuable to your build
- Provides maximum flexibility for balanced stat allocation
- Ideal for builds that benefit from multiple stats without heavy focus on one
- Helps avoid over-investing in a single stat (diminishing returns)
Mixing Distribution Types
The most effective gear loadouts often mix different distribution ratios across slots. For example, you might use 85/15 items in high-budget slots to maximize your primary stat, while using 55/45 items in lower-budget slots to maintain balance. This approach allows you to optimize for both primary stat focus and overall stat distribution.
Diminishing Returns and Distribution
Understanding diminishing returns (see our stats guide) is crucial when evaluating stat distributions:
- Early percentages (0-10%): Most efficient - single-stat items excel here
- Mid percentages (10-20%): Still efficient - dual-stat splits work well
- High percentages (20%+): Less efficient - multi-stat distributions become more valuable
As your stats increase, spreading points across multiple stats often becomes more effective than stacking everything into one stat.
Using the FellowBIS Calculator
The FellowBIS calculator automatically evaluates all stat distributions when finding optimal items. It considers:
- Your stat weights and priorities
- Stat breakpoints you want to reach
- Diminishing returns for each stat
- How different distributions work together across all slots
Simply input your stat weights, and the calculator will find the optimal combination of items with various stat distributions that maximizes your character's effectiveness.
